What is a Merchant Gift Certificate?

 Merchant Gift Certificates are customized gift certificates that anyone with a Premier or Business account can sell on their website. Gift certificate recipients can purchase any merchandise or eBay items offered by the gift certificate sponsor, such as a merchant or eBay seller. Merchant Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for a merchant's eBay listing.

While Merchant Gift Certificates are sponsor-specific, eBay Gift Certificates can be redeemed for merchandise from any eBay seller.

   I received a Merchant Gift Certificate. How do I spend it?

Answer :

 Merchant Gift Certificates are redeemable for merchandise or services offered by the merchant. The shopping URL of the merchant is indicated on the gift certificate. Once you locate an item or service to purchase, enter or select the Redemption Code. Merchant Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed towards the purchase of the merchant's eBay listings.

Additional costs, such as shipping, insurance, and taxes may be added to the total price so remember to consider this. Any remaining costs beyond the value of the gift certificate must be paid using a funding source such as a PayPal account balance or credit card.

 How do I redeem my gift certificate?

Answer :

 Once you select the item or service you want to purchase, choose PayPal as a payment method. If it's an eBay item, use eBay Checkout or the Send Money tab on PayPal.

Choose Select Code or Redeem Code to complete the redemption.

Note: Merchant Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for a merchant's eBay listing.

 How long do I have to spend a gift certificate?

Answer :

 There are no fees or expiration dates for gift certificate purchases or redemptions. We do not charge a maintenance fee on the unused balance of a gift certificate.

 What happens if a gift certificate sent to a recipient has not been claimed?

Answer :

 If a gift certificate is not claimed, it can be canceled within 60 days of purchase. Follow the steps below to cancel a gift certificate:

Here's How: Log in to your PayPal account. Click the History tab. Find the gift certificate purchase. Click on the Details link for this particular transaction. Click Cancel.

Note: If the gift certificate was sent to an existing PayPal user, the recipient will need to cancel it from his or her account before it can be reissued.
